Madhya Pradesh to mark 2026 as ‘Year of Agriculture’, CM Mohan Yadav briefs Governor on growth roadmap

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday met Governor Mangubhai Patel to discuss the state’s development priorities, presenting a set of books that showcase key achievements of his government over the past two years.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Governor on ongoing and upcoming development initiatives, with a strong focus on agriculture-led growth and rural prosperity.

2026 declared as the Year of Agriculture

The Chief Minister informed the Governor that 2026 will be observed across Madhya Pradesh as the “Year of Agriculture”, with the theme “Prosperous farmers: Prosperous state”.

According to the Chief Minister, <u>the year-long initiative is aimed at strengthening farmers’ incomes and building a resilient rural economy</u>, aligned with medium-term goals set for the next three years.

Coordinated push across key departments

To achieve the agriculture-focused targets, multiple state departments will work in close coordination, including:

• Agriculture and Horticulture

• Food Processing

• Cooperative Sector

• Animal Husbandry and Dairy

• Panchayat and Rural Development

• Revenue Department

• Energy and Renewable Energy

Officials said the integrated approach is intended to support farming beyond crop production, covering processing, storage, market access, allied activities, and energy needs in rural areas.

Agriculture remains the economic backbone of Madhya Pradesh, employing a large share of the population.
