Madhya Pradesh Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign, Seizes Over Rs 2 Crore in Assets

The Cliff News | Bhopal | September 2, 2026 Madhya Pradesh Police has significantly escalated its campaign against narcotics, achieving substantial success in seizing contraband and illegal assets worth crores of rupees over the past week. Special operations conducted across the state have targeted drug trafficking, illegal sales, and cultivation, leading to a major setback for drug traffickers.

According to data released by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters, these swift actions across various districts demonstrate a significant step towards curbing the illicit drug trade. The seizures, totaling over Rs 2.1 crore, are a result of continuous surveillance, strengthened informant networks, and stringent legal action against suspects.

Major Doda Chura Seizure in Neemuch

The district of Neemuch stands out in the major anti-drug operations. The police outpost at Kanjarda successfully seized 424 kilograms of illegal doda chura, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 63.60 lakh. Three accused were apprehended in this operation.

In another significant operation, the Jheern police station seized 12 quintals and 70 kilograms of illegal doda chura along with a truck. The estimated value of the seized assets in this action is around Rs 65 lakh, and two individuals were arrested. Combined, these two operations in the district led to the seizure of assets worth over Rs 1.28 crore, highlighting the widespread nature of drug smuggling in the region.

Narcotics Recovered in Indore and Shivpuri

In the financial capital, Indore, the police have maintained their active stance against drugs. The Chandan Nagar police station arrested a foreign national, seizing 57.18 grams of cocaine, a mobile phone, and assets valued at approximately Rs 29 lakh. This operation could potentially disrupt international drug trafficking networks.

Meanwhile, in Shivpuri district, the Kotwali police station conducted three separate operations against the sale of narcotics. During these actions, three accused were apprehended, and 48.36 grams of smack, a motorcycle, and a Bolero vehicle, collectively valued at around Rs 22.10 lakh, were seized.

Drug Peddlers Arrested in Balaghat and Vidisha

In Balaghat district, the Changtola police station, following interrogation of an accused under NDPS Act remand, conducted a raid in Odisha and arrested a cannabis smuggler. Approximately 31.570 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated value of about Rs 16 lakh, was recovered from the arrested individual. This action was crucial in tracing the source of the narcotics.

Vidisha police have also cracked down on illegal narcotics. In the Ganj Basoda area, 11 individuals were arrested. From their possession, 18 grams of brown sugar, 147 liters of illicit liquor, 500 Able injections, 70 syringes, 32 mobile phones, and a motorcycle, with total seized assets valued at approximately Rs 9 lakh, were recovered.

Illegal Cultivation Uncovered in Ujjain, Cough Syrup Seized in Maihar

In Ujjain district, the police conducted two distinct and effective operations against drugs. The Jiwajiganj police station intercepted an e-rickshaw driver during vehicle checking and seized 255 grams of illegal charas, valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh. The accused was arrested.

Separately, the Khachrod police station exposed a gang involved in the illegal cultivation of cannabis in the Buranabad forest. The police arrested the accused and seized 26 kilograms and 96 grams of cannabis, grown hidden among plants, with a value of about Rs 4 lakh. These two operations combined resulted in the seizure of narcotics worth approximately Rs 6 lakh.

Maihar police also took action in the Kotwali police station area, arresting one accused with 152 vials of intoxicating cough syrup.

These varied actions underscore the Madhya Pradesh Police's unwavering commitment and swift response against the illegal drug trade. The police are maintaining constant vigilance to strike at the roots of drug trafficking, illegal sales, and their primary sources. Efforts to further strengthen the information network and ensure the strictest legal action against offenders will continue to make the state drug-free.
