Police Recover Over a Thousand Lost Mobile Phones

In a significant relief for citizens, the Madhya Pradesh Police have successfully recovered and returned a total of 1054 lost or stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners during the month of September. This achievement was made possible through the effective use of various district police forces, the Government Railway Police (GRP), and advanced technical resources, as stated in a release from the Police Headquarters in Bhopal.

The total estimated value of the recovered mobile phones is in the crores of rupees. This operation was conducted under initiatives like the Chief Minister Jan Vishwas Abhiyan and 'Operation Vishwas', aiming to strengthen public trust in the police by returning lost valuables, especially mobile phones.

Technological Prowess Aids Recovery Efforts

Technical assistance, the utilization of the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal, mobile tracing, and inter-state police coordination played a crucial role in this successful endeavor. These modern policing methods have proven highly effective in recovering lost devices.

District-wise Successes Highlighted

Several districts across the state have made commendable contributions to this campaign. Morena Police recovered 401 mobile phones, valued at over approximately 95 lakh rupees, using the CEIR portal and technical resources. In Shajapur, joint efforts led to the return of 130 mobile phones, worth about 20 lakh rupees.

Khandwa Police recovered 113 mobile phones with a total value of approximately 23 lakh 49 thousand rupees during Ganesh Utsav through 'Operation Sahyog'. Similarly, Alirajpur recovered 101 mobile phones, estimated at 17 lakh rupees, and returned them to their owners with the help of technical analysis and the CEIR portal.

Bhopal Rural recovered 87 mobile phones, with an estimated value of around 18 lakh rupees, under 'Operation Vishwas' through technical resources and inter-state police coordination. Guna district also saw the recovery of 79 mobile phones, valued at approximately 15 lakh 80 thousand rupees.

Sheopur Police recovered and returned 54 mobile phones, estimated at around 8 lakh rupees, to applicants using the CEIR portal and modern technical means.

GRP and Station-Level Operations Yield Results

The Government Railway Police (GRP) also played a significant role in this campaign. Bhopal GRP recovered 16 mobile phones, worth about 4 lakh 33 thousand rupees, in separate operations where mobile theft accused were also arrested. Indore GRP recovered 8 mobile phones, valued at around 1 lakh 46 thousand rupees, in two operations and apprehended a wanted absconder in an old theft case.

Furthermore, Niwadi Police arrested two members of an inter-state theft gang in connection with a mobile shop burglary. They recovered 36 mobile phones and a scooter, with a total property value of 10 lakh 9 thousand rupees.

In Shivpuri, two accused were arrested in a theft case in the Phizikal Police Station area, leading to the recovery of 2 iPhones, valued at approximately 90 thousand rupees.

Strengthening Public Trust

These recoveries have not only provided immediate relief to citizens but have also demonstrated the effectiveness of modern policing methods, such as the use of the CEIR portal and data analysis, in retrieving lost valuable devices. Such actions reinforce public trust in the police and assure citizens that their complaints will be taken seriously. The police department aims to continue these campaigns to ensure citizens receive their lost belongings back.
