Madhya Pradesh Police Intensify Anti-Drug Operations

The Madhya Pradesh Police have significantly ramped up their operations against the illicit drug trade and trafficking across the state. Under the directive of Director General of Police, Shri Kailash Makwana, a special campaign has led to the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics and assets used in smuggling.

In a comprehensive crackdown lasting one week, police across various districts confiscated drugs including MD drugs, dodachura, ganja, smack, and charas. The total value of seized assets and contraband amounts to over ₹5.41 crore, demonstrating the police's commitment to curbing the growing drug menace.

The DG's guidance empowered police teams to intercept smugglers through intelligence gathered from informers and active blockades. The seized assets include vehicles, cash, and large quantities of narcotics with significant value on the international market.

Key Seizures Across Districts

Ratlam District Leads Seizures

In Ratlam district, police achieved significant success against drug smugglers. The Kalukheda police, acting on a tip-off, seized 2.495 kg of MD drugs and a Hyundai Creta car used for trafficking, valued at approximately ₹2.70 crore.

Similarly, the Bilpank police impounded a container filled with 106.47 kg of dodachura, seizing assets worth around ₹30 lakh. The Jaora City police arrested five youths, confiscating 28.46 grams of MD drugs and a motorcycle, totaling approximately ₹2.80 lakh in seized assets.

The Piploda police also arrested three individuals, seizing 20 grams of MD drugs and a motorcycle. Collectively, Ratlam district saw seizures of drugs and assets exceeding ₹3.04 crore.

Chhindwara District's Major Bust

In Chhindwara district, police intercepted a container and a Tata Safari car on the Tendunimal Main Highway, seizing approximately 320.8 kg of illegal ganja. The operation also yielded a loaded pistol, 5 live cartridges, 8 mobile phones, and ₹24,090 in cash.

The total estimated value of the confiscated items in this operation is around ₹1.10 crore. Seven notorious drug smugglers were apprehended from the two vehicles.

Significant Recoveries in Neemuch and Ujjain

The Neemuch district police have consistently targeted drug traffickers, recovering large quantities of dodachura from various police stations. Recoveries included 325.140 kg from Singoli station (₹32.51 lakh), 117.54 kg from Manasa station (₹17.63 lakh), 40 kg from Neemuch City station (₹6 lakh), and 20 grams of MD and 12 kg of dodachura from Jawad station (₹2.36 lakh).

These actions in Neemuch resulted in the seizure of narcotics worth approximately ₹58.50 lakh, with cases registered under the NDPS Act. In Ujjain, the Chimanganj Mandi police seized 53.372 kg of illegal ganja, along with a car without a number plate and ₹5,300 in cash, valued at approximately ₹20 lakh. Three suspects were arrested.

Continued Pressure on Drug Traffickers

Other Districts Report Successes

• Jabalpur: A joint operation by the Crime Branch and Khamariya and Gwari Ghat police seized 23.845 kg of ganja, valued at approximately ₹11.92 lakh.
• Balaghat: Changtola police arrested two ganja smugglers from Odisha and seized 22.290 kg of ganja, worth about ₹11.14 lakh.
• Narsinghpur: Police arrested three individuals and seized 65.20 grams of smack, estimated at ₹7 lakh.
• Gwalior: Belgada police apprehended two ganja smugglers in a Bolero, seizing 57.600 kg of ganja (₹6 lakh) and the trafficking vehicle.
• Indore: Tezaajinagar police arrested a drug dealer with 502 grams of charas, a motorcycle, and other items, totaling assets worth about ₹6 lakh.
• Panna: Amanganj police arrested two individuals and seized 4.135 kg of ganja, a motorcycle, and mobile phones, with assets valued at approximately ₹2.50 lakh.
• Katni: Police arrested a smuggler from Haryana at the Murwara railway station with 18.748 kg of ganja (₹1.85 lakh). Badwara police seized 1.872 kg of ganja and a motorcycle, while another 2.258 kg of ganja (approx. ₹22,000) was seized in Pipariya Kalan area.
• Mandsaur: Police arrested five interstate smugglers from YD Nagar station, seizing 67.38 kg of dodachura (approx. ₹2 lakh). Narayanagar police seized 100 kg of illegal dodachura from a Swift car.
