Madhya Pradesh Police Achieve Major Success: 1808 Lost Mobiles Recovered, Rs 3.47 Crore Phones Returned to Owners

The Cliff News | Bhopal | August 14, 2026 Madhya Pradesh Police have achieved a significant success in tracing lost and stolen mobile phones. In the last two weeks, operations across various districts in the state have led to the recovery of 1,808 lost mobile phones and one tablet.

The estimated value of these recovered mobile phones is reported to be over 3 crore 47 lakh 81 thousand rupees. The police have successfully returned these valuable devices to their rightful owners, bringing smiles back to citizens' faces and strengthening their trust in the police.

This achievement is a result of the police's effective utilization of technical means, particularly the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal and the expertise of the cyber cell. Through continuous efforts, the police are actively searching for lost mobile phones in various districts.

Special Operations in Various Districts

Chhindwara: A Big Return Before Raksha Bandhan

The Chhindwara Police conducted a special operation just before the Raksha Bandhan festival, returning 501 lost mobile phones to their owners. The estimated value of these recovered mobiles exceeds 1 crore rupees.

This success was achieved through the technical proficiency and tireless efforts of the cyber cell, further enhancing the trust of local citizens.

Gwalior: Recoveries at the National Level

The Gwalior Police's cyber cell recovered 451 lost mobile phones worth 1 crore 3 lakh rupees with the help of the CEIR portal. Notably, many of these phones were traced from various states and cities across the country.

Citizens expressed happiness upon receiving their mobile phones back on the occasion of Independence Day. During this operation, vigilant citizens who handed over unclaimed mobile phones to the police were also honored with certificates of appreciation, a commendable initiative.

Chhatarpur: 276 Mobiles Returned Under 'Operation Vishwas'

The Chhatarpur Police recovered 276 lost mobile phones under an operation named 'Operation Vishwas', with a total estimated value of 41 lakh 40 thousand rupees. Through the use of technical resources and continuous efforts by the cyber team, these mobile phones were returned to their rightful owners.

Datia: 173 Mobiles Recovered

Datia Police also joined this wave of success, tracing and returning 173 lost mobile phones to their owners using technical means. The estimated value of these phones is approximately 35 lakh rupees.

Jabalpur: Effective Use of CEIR Portal

The Jabalpur Police successfully traced 134 lost mobile phones using the CEIR portal and returned them to the respective applicants. The estimated value of these mobile phones is approximately 23 lakh rupees.

Sagar: Mobiles Traced from Various States

The Sagar Police's cyber team recovered 112 lost mobile phones based on technical analysis and IMEI numbers, with an estimated value of approximately 16 lakh 50 thousand rupees. A significant aspect of this operation was that the traced mobile phones were being used in various districts of Madhya Pradesh as well as in other states.

Khandwa: 109 Mobiles Recovered Under 'Operation Sahyog'

In their recent operation under 'Operation Sahyog', the Khandwa Police recovered 109 lost mobile phones, with a total value of 20 lakh 48 thousand rupees. These mobile phones have been returned to their rightful owners.

Sheopur: 40 Mobiles Returned

The Sheopur Police also took action, tracing and handing over 40 lost mobile phones worth 6 lakh rupees to their rightful owners.

Joint Operation by GRP: Curbing Passenger Mobile Thefts in Indore and Ujjain

The Railway Police (GRP) has also conducted special operations to curb incidents of mobile theft from passengers on trains. In a joint operation by GRP Indore and the RPF, accused involved in passenger mobile theft were arrested, and 9 Android mobile phones and 1 tablet, with a total value of 1 lakh 88 thousand 689 rupees, were seized from their possession.

Meanwhile, GRP Ujjain also recovered 2 mobile phones and 8 thousand rupees in cash from the accused, with a total value of 55 thousand rupees.

The campaign by the Madhya Pradesh Police to trace lost mobile phones and return them to their rightful owners, through the effective use of technical resources and the continuous hard work of the police force, is continuing with full seriousness. This action is a great relief for ordinary citizens who often become distressed upon losing or having their valuable devices stolen.

On this occasion, the police also advise citizens to verify the IMEI number on the Sanchar Saathi app before purchasing second-hand mobile phones, to avoid buying stolen or lost devices.
