Land Conservation Department Accused of Stealing Soil from Farmers' Land in Mahoba

Farmers Allege Soil Theft by Land Conservation Department

In Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, the Kulpahar unit of the Land Conservation Department faces serious accusations of excavating fertile soil from farmers' private land and constructing embankments without their consent. Farmers from Indrahta village, led by Ashutosh Sharma, have submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Agriculture Director, Mahoba, demanding immediate action.

Unauthorized Soil Extraction and Embankment Construction

The complaint states that the Land Conservation Department officials allegedly removed soil from the farmers' land, specifically Gata Number 603/1 in Indrahta village, without obtaining prior permission. According to the farmers, department officials OP Rawat and Pradeep Rajput misused government funds to extract soil from their fields for embankment construction.

The complaint also notes that an LNT machine was used for approximately 40 hours for this operation. The primary grievance of the farmers is the complete lack of consent and awareness regarding the excavation, which they claim involved digging long, wide, and deep trenches to extract a significant amount of soil. They estimate a loss of fertile soil valued at lakhs of rupees, exacerbating their difficulties.

Demand for Investigation and Compensation

It has been reported that a revenue team conducted a site inspection, which prima facie found the officials of the Land Conservation Department to be at fault. The farmers are now demanding a fair investigation into the entire matter, an assessment of the soil loss to determine appropriate compensation, and a halt to any further government payments related to this project until the investigation concludes.

The farmers have questioned the basis on which permission was granted to remove soil from their land without their consent and how public funds were utilized. They are also calling for strict action against the responsible officials. A copy of this complaint has been forwarded to the Commissioner of Banda, District Magistrate of Mahoba, एसडीएम Kulpahar, District Land Conservation Officer Kulpahar, Deputy Agriculture Director Mahoba, Bundelkhand Kisan Union, and local public representatives to ensure the gravity of the issue is understood and swift justice is delivered.
