Lahar SDM Accused of Misbehavior with Patwaris; Union Demands Impartial Inquiry
The Madhya Pradesh Patwari Union has demanded an impartial inquiry and strict action against Lahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahendra Saujanya for alleged misconduct.

SDM Accused of Abusive Conduct Towards Patwaris
Lahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahendra Saujanya in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district faces serious allegations of using abusive language and behaving disrespectfully with patwaris. In protest, the Madhya Pradesh Patwari Union submitted a memorandum to the District Collector on Friday, demanding an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible.
The memorandum, led by union district president Vinayak Singh Tomar, stated that patwaris were summoned to the SDM's office at 7 PM on September 8, 2026, as per the SDM's instructions. Upon their arrival, the SDM is alleged to have used extremely insulting language.
Specific Allegations Regarding a Female Patwari
The union expressed deep outrage, particularly concerning the treatment of a female patwari. According to the memorandum, when the Naib Tehsildar asked the female patwari to sit, the SDM objected, used offensive words, and instructed her to remain standing until given permission to sit.
Questions Raised Over Past Punitive Actions
The Patwari Union extended its concerns beyond this recent incident, also questioning the SDM's past punitive actions. The union claims that procedures for suspending, deducting salaries, or withholding salaries of numerous patwaris were not followed correctly.
It is alleged that the concerned employees were neither issued show-cause notices nor given an opportunity to be heard, which is contrary to administrative rules.
Patwaris Clarify Role in PM Kisan Scheme Complaints
Discussions also covered the management of CM Helpline complaints related to the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme. District President Vinayak Singh Tomar clarified that patwaris do not possess the technical authority to fill forms, make amendments, or resolve complaints on the PM-Kisan portal.
He stated that it is completely unjust to hold patwaris responsible for these pending complaints and to take punitive action against them. The union appealed to the administration to understand these technical limitations and to refrain from taking any punitive steps against any patwari without a proper inquiry.
The union expressed hope that the Collector will take swift cognizance of the matter and take just action.
