KL Rahul Shines Again with Half-Century Against West Indies

KL Rahul continued his rich run of form with a well-crafted 53 not out on Day 1 against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma having stepped away from Test cricket, Rahul has embraced the role of guiding India’s batting unit with maturity, providing a strong foundation after India bowled out West Indies for just 162.

Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel praised Rahul’s composure, noting how the opener has carried forward his form from the recent England tour. Patel highlighted Rahul’s disciplined approach, rotating the strike and using his feet effectively against a tough West Indies opening attack.

“KL Rahul was outstanding today; he carried on his form from the England tour. When a team is in transition, senior players must step up, and Rahul has done exactly that. He played the situation really well, gave himself time to settle, and looked much more in control,” Patel said on Star Sports.

Rahul’s stellar year includes 532 runs in 10 innings against England, with two centuries and two fifties, along with a match-winning hundred for Australia A earlier this year. Patel called 2025 Rahul’s finest year since 2017 and predicted even greater achievements if he maintains this form.
