Khushi Kapoor, Karishma Tanna Begin Shooting for Mom 2; Directed by Crazxy Filmmaker Girish Kohli

Earlier this year, producer Boney Kapoor had confirmed plans for a film with his daughter Khushi Kapoor, hinting that it might be a sequel to Mom (2017) — the acclaimed drama that starred his late wife, Sridevi. It is now official: the sequel is titled Mom 2, and the film has already gone on floors.

Shooting Begins in Mumbai

According to sources close to the production, Mom 2 began shooting just after Diwali, on October 26, 2025, in Mumbai. Around 10–11 days of filming have already been completed.

“Khushi Kapoor plays a crucial part and is joined by Karishma Tanna, who also has a strong, performance-oriented role,” revealed a source to Bollywood Hungama.

New Director, Familiar Vision

While the original Mom (2017) was directed by Ravi Udyawar, the sequel is being helmed by Girish Kohli, the writer of Mom’s story, screenplay, and dialogues.

The source added, “Boney Kapoor felt Girish understands the soul of Mom deeply. After proving his directorial skill with Crazxy, starring Sohum Shah earlier this year, he was the perfect choice to direct Mom 2.”

Official Announcement Expected on Boney Kapoor’s Birthday

Buzz suggests that Boney Kapoor plans to officially announce the film on November 11, his birthday, in a grand fashion.

At the 25th IIFA Awards 2025 held in Jaipur, Boney had shared,

“I have watched all of Khushi’s films — The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaniyaan. I am planning a film with her too, after No Entry 2. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi achieve the same level of perfection.”

What’s Next

Fans are equally eager for updates on No Entry 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2005 comedy blockbuster. But for now, all eyes are on Mom 2, which marks Khushi Kapoor’s most emotionally charged role yet — a continuation of one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stories.
