Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attempted to march to the Prime Minister's residence in protest against the central government's 'E20 petrol policy'. Delhi Police, citing security reasons and lack of permission, stopped the march midway.

Following this, Kejriwal, along with his supporters, sat down in protest at the demonstration site and raised questions about the policy. Arvind Kejriwal criticized the central government regarding the E20 petrol policy, stating that the general public should be provided with clear information and appropriate alternatives regarding the policy's impacts. He demanded that consumers be given a choice between regular petrol and 20 percent ethanol-blended (E20) petrol at petrol pumps, with separate pricing for both.

AAP's Concerns Regarding E20 Petrol

Party leaders claimed that many vehicle owners have serious concerns about engine performance, mileage, and vehicle maintenance. The police did not permit the march to proceed, considering law and order and security arrangements.

The police stated that any kind of demonstration or march in highly sensitive areas like the Prime Minister's residence cannot be allowed without prior permission. After the police action, Arvind Kejriwal expressed his dissatisfaction by sitting down with supporters as a form of protest. He asserted that it is every citizen's democratic right to voice their opinions peacefully and that the government must respond to the public's valid concerns.

AAP leaders termed the police action an unsuccessful attempt to suppress the voice of protest. They reiterated their commitment to advocating for public interests through democratic means.
