Karan Johar announces digital detox, says ‘no DMs, no posts’ for a week

What happened:
Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that he is taking a short break from social media, revealing that he is going on a digital detox for a week.

What Karan Johar said:
Sharing the update on his Instagram Stories, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham director wrote,
“Digital Detox for a week! No doom scrolling! No DMs! No posts! May the universe give me the strength to stay away!!!!”
He accompanied the note with the song Hum Honge Kamyab.

Known for his active presence on Instagram, Johar often shares personal reflections, industry opinions and messages of support for fellow actors and filmmakers. His announcement quickly caught the attention of fans online.

Context:
The post came shortly after Johar had spoken strongly about the recent box office success of Dhurandhar and Border 2, saying their performance proved that Hindi cinema is “back” and that critics should take note. He had also recently hit back at trolls who mocked actor Varun Dhawan.

What’s next for Karan Johar:
On the work front, Johar is reportedly preparing to return to the director’s chair with a large-scale family drama under Dharma Productions. According to industry buzz, the upcoming project is expected to echo the emotional scale of his 2001 blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, featuring two male and two female leads.

While casting is yet to begin, the film is said to be a big-ticket theatrical venture. An official announcement from Johar or Dharma Productions is still awaited.
