Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office: Rishab Shetty’s Film Smashes Records Worldwide

Kantara Chapter 1 has maintained its strong momentum since its festive release, showing no major decline even on working days. The Rishab Shetty-directed film continued to draw housefull crowds across Karnataka and other parts of India, setting itself up for a record-breaking opening weekend.

The film collected just under ₹90 crore worldwide on its opening day, aided by the Dussehra holiday in India. On its second day, Kantara Chapter 1 earned ₹45 crore net domestically, taking its two-day domestic total to ₹106.85 crore net (₹128.25 crore gross). With this, it has already become the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year, surpassing the lifetime collections of Su From So (₹92 crore net).

Overseas, the film also performed strongly, earning over $2.5 million in its first two days. This brings its worldwide gross to an impressive ₹151 crore after just two days. On Friday, Kantara Chapter 1 overtook the lifetime collections of recent big releases like Mirai (₹142 crore), Kesari Chapter 2 (₹144 crore), and Sky Force (₹150 crore), and it is expected to cross ₹200 crore by Saturday. With strong word of mouth, the film could breach ₹300 crore as early as Monday or Tuesday.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the original sleeper hit Kantara, which earned over ₹400 crore worldwide on a modest ₹15 crore budget. Set a thousand years before the events of the first film, the prequel stars Rishab Shetty in the lead, alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.
