Junior Engineer Attacked During Electricity Theft Investigation

Farrukhabad, September 7, 2026 – In Fatehgarh, Farrukhabad, a junior engineer from the electricity department, Mukhtar Hussain, was subjected to a brutal attack by emboldened individuals on Sunday while investigating a complaint of electricity theft. The physical altercation resulted in severe injuries to the engineer, with a suspected fracture in his right hand.

Following the incident, Hussain filed a report at the Fatehgarh police station, demanding action. He had been dispatched to investigate a complaint (number 155310) at the premises of Subhash Chandra Ahirwar in Bholepur, Lokco Road, accompanied by Sub-Divisional Officer First, Ajay Kumar. The complaint alleged that electricity was being illegally siphoned at the location.

Assault During Evidence Gathering

According to Hussain's complaint, as he was preparing to take action in accordance with departmental procedures, the head of the household, Subhash Chandra Ahirwar, and his son, Rajat Kumar, began hurling abuses and initiated a physical confrontation. The duo allegedly attacked the engineer, throwing him to the ground and beating him severely. His official documents were also reportedly snatched during the assault.

The attack left Junior Engineer Mukhtar Hussain with visible injuries around his eye and a suspected serious fracture in his right hand. Compounding the concern, Hussain is also a heart patient, making his condition more precarious. Eyewitnesses reported that onlookers attempted to intervene, but the attackers persisted with the assault.

Police Launch Investigation

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene. Based on the complaint lodged by Mukhtar Hussain, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The Fatehgarh police have conducted a medical examination of the junior engineer. A formal case is expected to be registered soon, and further action will be taken. Authorities are currently searching for the individuals involved in the attack.
