Development Milestone in Daili Village
A significant event for the upliftment and social transformation of the Sahariya tribal community occurred on October 8, 2026, in Daili village, Jhansi district. Here, the Shabri Mata Temple was inaugurated, symbolizing decades of Gandhian struggles for the Sahariya tribals.
Concurrently, the Bhai Ji Bal Mandir School was launched in memory of the late Dr. S.N. Subbarao 'Bhai Ji'. The village has now been bestowed with a new identity as 'Bhai Ji Pura', a testament to the successful non-violent movements for the rights to water, forests, and land.
Initiative Launched by Ekta Parishad Founder
Rajagopal P.V., founder of Ekta Parishad, inaugurated this historic program as the chief guest. Addressing the attendees, he recalled that just two decades ago, Daili village was home to Sahariya tribals living in huts and earning a livelihood by breaking stones.
He highlighted that today, as a result of the organization's campaigns and the community's unity, many families own their homes, and children are pursuing education. Rajagopal P.V. emphasized that the journey of change is ongoing, and skill development for youth and ensuring their economic self-reliance remain Ekta Parishad's top priorities.
Future Plans Emphasize Skill Development and Government Schemes
Rakesh Dixit, National Coordinator of Ekta Parishad, presented a detailed overview of future action plans. He stated that to bring about lasting and genuine change in villages, it is crucial to ensure eligible families benefit from government schemes.
To this end, a comprehensive survey will be conducted across 21 villages in the Jhansi region. The primary objective is to identify underprivileged families needing employment and skill development opportunities, thereby connecting them with suitable government benefits.
Local Leadership and Community Issues Highlighted
Rakesh Dixit also noted that through continuous dialogue and efforts, local leadership like Kesari Bai and Rani Sahariya has emerged in these villages. This local leadership is now actively playing a role in effectively conveying villagers' problems to the administration.
During the program, the esteemed presence of National Convener Anees Bhai further strengthened the organization's resolve. Villagers shared their daily livelihood challenges and issues related to land affected by mining operations.
This initiative by Ekta Parishad is proving to be a significant step towards improving the living standards of the Sahariya tribals. The organization is now striving to empower these communities to live dignified lives by ensuring the smooth implementation of government schemes and fostering better coordination with administrative bodies.
