Massive Drug Bust in Jhabua District

In a significant move towards realizing Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's vision of a drug-free Madhya Pradesh, the police in Jhabua district have executed a major operation. Following a 'zero tolerance' policy to dismantle syndicates involved in illegal drug trade, Jhabua police achieved a crucial success in uncovering illicit ganja cultivation.

'Zero Tolerance' Policy Yields Results

Under the guidance of Director General of Police Kailash Makwana and the supervision of senior officials from the Indore Zone, a special team led by Jhabua Superintendent of Police Devendra Patidar raided the inaccessible hilly regions of Gram Kalmoda. Acting on intelligence from informers, police learned that some anti-social elements were cultivating ganja illegally amidst cotton crops.

Extensive Search Uncovers Thousands of Ganja Plants

The joint police team, comprising personnel from Chowki Para and Thana Kotwali, conducted search operations at three separate locations in the remote areas. During the operation, a large-scale illegal ganja cultivation was discovered, with thousands of plants hidden among the cotton crops. The police seized a total of 15,609 ganja plants.

Seizure Valued at Crores

The seized ganja plants collectively weighed 99 quintals, 16 kilograms, and 427 grams. The estimated market value of this illicit ganja is reported to be 9 crore 42 lakh rupees. This significant bust has sent shockwaves among smugglers involved in the trafficking and illegal cultivation of narcotics.

Legal Action and Continued Campaign

The police have initiated statutory proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in all three cases. The police administration stated that this crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal cultivation will continue as part of the ongoing campaign to make the state drug-free. Strict legal measures are being taken against responsible elements to ensure a safer, drug-free future for the state.
