Television actors Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have officially ended their 14-year marriage, bringing months of speculation to a close. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the couple finalised their divorce earlier this year after filing several months ago.
The two, who tied the knot in 2011, had reportedly been trying to reconcile their differences for some time. However, a source close to the couple told the publication that “much was tried, but nothing changed.” The pair have mutually settled arrangements for their three children — daughter Tara and their foster children, Rajveer and Khushi.
A Gradual Separation
Signs of a strain in their relationship had become increasingly visible over the past year. Once known for their affectionate social media presence, Jay and Mahhi had stopped appearing together online. Their last family photograph was shared in June 2024, and while they were seen together briefly during their daughter’s birthday celebration in August, the two have since been living separately.
Mahhi is now residing in a new home with the children, while Jay continues to share parenting duties. Despite the split, they appear to maintain a cordial relationship. Recently, Mahhi left a playful comment on Jay’s Instagram post featuring him and Tara, hinting at an amicable co-parenting dynamic.
Mahhi’s Response to Speculation
Rumours of a breakup first surfaced in July 2024, when Mahhi sharply addressed the public curiosity surrounding her personal life. In an interview, she questioned why celebrities are expected to justify private choices, saying, “Even if it is the case, why should I tell you?” She criticised the culture of judgment that often follows celebrity divorces, urging people to “live and let live.”
An End of an Era in Indian Television
Jay and Mahhi were among Indian television’s most-loved couples, often admired for their chemistry on and off-screen. Their journey — from appearing together in dance reality shows to embracing parenthood — had long been seen as one of the medium’s most enduring partnerships.
Their decision to part ways marks the end of a 14-year relationship, but both continue to share the goal of raising their children in a stable, loving environment.
