Janhvi Kapoor on the Struggles of Being a Star Kid in Bollywood

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has shed light on the often-overlooked challenges faced by star kids in the film industry. Speaking at a discussion titled ‘Insider vs Outsider’, she highlighted that while outsiders’ struggles are widely recognized and empathized with, insiders rarely receive the same understanding.

“The film industry is like a big ocean where everyone has their own struggles,” Janhvi said. “People love to hear about outsiders fighting their way up, but when star kids speak about their own issues, no one takes it seriously. We’re assumed to have everything already, but that’s not true. We also have to work hard, take risks, and prove ourselves every single day.”

Janhvi emphasized that the insider-outsider debate oversimplifies reality: while outsiders fight for recognition, insiders contend with intense scrutiny, high expectations, and the weight of legacy.

The daughter of the late legendary actress Sridevi, Janhvi has been building her career across Bollywood and South Indian cinema. Her recent Bollywood release, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, co-starring Varun Dhawan, received positive reviews for her performance but had a slow box office run. In Tollywood, she is working with Ram Charan in Peddi and will reunite with Jr NTR for Devara 2 after starring with him in Devara.
