Jaipur School Tragedy: 9-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling From Fourth Floor, Police Probe Underway

A 9-year-old girl died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of Neerja Modi School, a private institution in Jaipur, on Friday.

According to police sources, CCTV footage captured the girl falling over the railing from a height of about 48 feet. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigation suggests suicide, though the school administration has not yet issued an official statement.

Police officers said they found that the area where the girl fell had been cleaned, showing no visible bloodstains, though the forensic team collected trace samples from the site. “The CCTV footage provided the most crucial evidence. Despite attempts to wash away the scene, the footage revealed what happened,” a police officer said.

The victim’s parents, residents of Mansarovar, have filed an FIR against the school, alleging death under suspicious circumstances. They have questioned how such an incident occurred within the school premises and demanded an inquiry into the role of the teaching staff.

The girl, their only child, was a Class 6 student. Her mother works in a bank, and her father in a private firm.

Meanwhile, the Joint Parents’ Association of Rajasthan alleged that the girl took the extreme step after harassment by a teacher. The group accused the school administration of destroying evidence and called for a fair and transparent investigation.

“The tragic incident has shaken the education community,” the association said in a statement, urging authorities to ensure strict action if negligence or harassment is confirmed.

Police have registered a case and launched a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the girl’s death.
