Jain Community Secures Rs 21 Crore in Discounts on 186 Luxury Cars Through JITO Initiative

The Jain community has demonstrated its remarkable purchasing power by securing Rs 21 crore in discounts while buying 186 luxury vehicles including BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. The deals were facilitated by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO), which represents over 65,000 members across India.

A Unique Deal With Luxury Brands

According to Himanshu Shah, JITO vice president, the initiative was “a one-of-its-kind deal” with top automobile brands. JITO collaborated with 15 authorised dealerships to negotiate preferential pricing for its members.

“JITO acted only as a facilitator and did not profit from the deal,” Shah told PTI, emphasizing the organisation’s role in leveraging collective bargaining for the benefit of its members.

Gujarat Leads in Luxury Car Purchases

Shah noted that most buyers hailed from Gujarat, purchasing cars priced between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 1.3 crore. Vehicles were handed over between January and June, with individual savings ranging between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, roughly the cost of an additional car for a family member.

The initiative, spearheaded by community member Nitin Jain, began after several members realised they could negotiate better deals by pooling their buying power. With no marketing costs involved, carmakers viewed it as a mutually beneficial arrangement.

“Initially, a handful of members participated, but the word spread quickly. Soon, 186 cars were sold, saving members a total of Rs 21 crore,” Jain explained.

Looking Ahead: Expansion Into Jewellery and Electronics

Encouraged by the success in automobiles, JITO is now extending similar collective bargaining initiatives to other sectors. The organisation has launched ‘Utsav’, a programme targeting jewellery and electronics purchases, aimed at providing members with significant discounts while creating win-win arrangements for sellers.

“This model demonstrates the potential of organised communities to secure tangible benefits through cooperation, and we hope to replicate this success across other consumer sectors,” Shah said.
