Itarsi: Municipality Temporarily Repairs Broken Drinking Water Pipeline
The Itarsi Municipality has temporarily fixed a broken drinking water pipeline in the Scoloni area after intervention from a social activist.

Temporary Repair Carried Out
The Itarsi Municipality has taken immediate action to temporarily repair a broken drinking water pipeline that has been leaking for several days in the Scoloni area. This action follows a warning issued to the administration by social activist Siddharth Arya regarding public health concerns.
Health Concerns Raised
The pipeline was situated amidst unsanitary conditions, raising serious fears of contaminated water mixing with the drinking supply. Local residents had also been lodging continuous complaints about this issue. Siddharth Arya had alerted Ward Engineer Soni Ji, Water Works Department Engineer Aditya Pandey Ji, and other relevant officials, demanding a permanent solution to the situation that posed a threat to public health.
Demand for Permanent Solution
After repeated complaints failed to yield concrete action, Arya had threatened to escalate the matter to higher authorities and warned of democratic protests. He emphasized that issues concerning public health require permanent solutions within a specified timeframe.
Temporary Fix Welcomed, Permanent Solution Demanded
Siddharth Arya welcomed the municipality's temporary repair of the pipeline, stating,
“While the temporary repair is a welcome step, a permanent solution to public health issues is extremely necessary within a time limit.”He expressed concern that the damaged pipeline in unsanitary surroundings poses a significant health risk to citizens, particularly children and the elderly.
Permanent Solution Expected Monday, Protest Threatened
The Municipality's Water Works Department has stated that the pipeline will be completely replaced and a permanent solution implemented on Monday. Siddharth Arya urged the residents of the area, warning that if the pipeline is not permanently replaced by Monday, all ward residents will unite to file a collective complaint at the municipality and will stage a peaceful and democratic protest as per regulations. He stressed that this issue is not personal but linked to the public health of the entire area.
Call for Vigilance and Complaint
Arya appealed to the residents to monitor the condition of drinking water pipelines in their wards. He urged them to immediately report any pipelines found within drains, amidst garbage, or in a damaged state to the municipality and also inform public representatives and social organizations. He added,
“For issues related to public health, silence is not acceptable; responsibility and solutions are essential.”
