New SP Takes Command in Bareilly
The law and order of Bareilly city is now under the charge of 2020 batch IPS officer Chirag Jain. He formally assumed the responsibilities of the Superintendent of Police (City) on Wednesday.
This new posting for Chirag Jain comes at a time when the city is experiencing a pressing need for crime control and effective policing. He succeeds IPS Manush Parik, who has been transferred to Azamgarh.
An Inspiring Career Path
Originally from Deeg, Rajasthan, Chirag Jain has had a highly inspirational career trajectory. After earning a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked at Tata Motors in Pune. However, driven by his ambition to join the civil services, he resigned from his job in 2016.
He secured his position in the Indian Police Service (IPS) by achieving the 160th rank in the 2019 UPSC examination on his third attempt. This accomplishment marked a significant milestone in his journey towards public service.
Technical Acumen and Unique Working Style
Chirag Jain is known for his distinctive working style and technical expertise. Several incidents from his tenure have garnered attention and praise.
While serving as SP in Prayagraj, he employed a novel strategy to solve a kidnapping case. He created a fake social media profile in the name of a young woman to track the accused, which proved instrumental in cracking the case. This innovative approach was widely lauded.
For his commendable work style, he was awarded the Police Director General's Silver Commendation Disc on January 26, 2026.
New Responsibilities and Challenges
Upon his farewell from Azamgarh recently, Chirag Jain was visibly moved by a poem recited by a child. Now, as he takes on his new responsibilities in Bareilly, his primary challenges will be to ensure the swift resolution of public grievances and to further strengthen the city's security apparatus.
His active presence in sensitive areas of the city and his approach to policing will be under close scrutiny. All eyes are on his working style and how he will maintain law and order in Bareilly.
