Police Launch Intensive Checking Drive Against Drugs and Illicit Liquor in Raipur

The Cliff News | Raipur | August 13, 2026 Raipur Police Commissionerate's Central Zone carried out a comprehensive checking campaign on Wednesday and Thursday nights, taking significant action to curb crime and suspicious activities.

During this operation, individuals involved in the trade of illicit drugs and liquor, along with those engaged in other suspicious activities, were targeted across various police station areas. According to police officials, the primary objective of this nocturnal patrol and intensive checking drive was to effectively prevent criminal incidents occurring at night, identify and monitor suspicious individuals, and generally strengthen the city's security system.

Two Youths Arrested With Narcotic Pills

A significant part of this action took place in the Golbazar police station area, where the police apprehended two youths, Anurag Sahu (21) and Somesh Sahu (24). A total of 157 Nitrozepam tablets were recovered from their possession.

The police have registered a case against these youths under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated further proceedings. This incident highlights the growing spread of narcotic drugs in the city.

Action Against Traffic Violations and Illegal Tint Removal

During the campaign, the police also took strict action against traffic rule violations. A vehicle driver was caught driving under the influence of alcohol near Hotel Aditya and action was taken against him under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Additionally, illegal black film from vehicles was removed in the Baijnathpara area. This action was taken in compliance with Supreme Court orders, which prohibit the application of black film on vehicles. This campaign is part of the ongoing efforts by the Raipur Police to maintain law and order in the city and ensure the safety of citizens.

Previously, the Raipur Police Commissionerate has conducted combing patrol operations with teams equipped with drone-mounted night vision cameras in various police station areas, aiming to curb criminal activities. These police efforts are playing a crucial role in making the city safer.
