First Semiconductor-Grade Silane Gas Plant in India to be Set Up in Guna
The district of Guna in Madhya Pradesh is set to host India's first ultra-high purity semiconductor-grade silane gas plant, to be established by Inox Air Products Limited. This significant industrial project involves a substantial investment of ₹1260 crore, which is expected to usher in a new era for the state's industrial landscape. The plant is slated to commence production by April 2029.
This initiative is the outcome of a comprehensive meeting held in Mumbai between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of Inox Air Products Limited. The discussions, which took place during an investment conference, delved deeply into the state's industrial development and investment opportunities within the semiconductor sector. The Chief Minister described this project as a crucial step towards the state's technological self-reliance.
Project to Boost Employment and Self-Reliance
The plant being set up by Inox Air Products in Guna will accelerate the domestic production of essential gases required for semiconductor manufacturing in the country. Currently, there is a considerable reliance on imports for these critical gases, a dependency this project aims to reduce. The establishment of this new industrial unit will directly create over 320 local employment opportunities, thereby improving the economic condition of the region.
The government views this project as a strategic move towards developing Madhya Pradesh into a semiconductor hub. Upon its operationalization, the plant will not only strengthen the local economy but also bolster the nation's semiconductor supply chain.
