Indore Metro: Revised Budget of ₹12,900 Crore Approved, Yellow Line Construction Gains Momentum

Revised Budget and Yellow Line Progress

The state government has given final approval to the revised cost for Indore's ambitious Metro Rail project. The estimated cost has been increased from ₹7,500 crore to ₹12,900 crore, marking a significant step towards modernizing the city's transportation infrastructure.

A crucial component of the project is the 31.32-kilometer Yellow Line ring route. Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) required for the underground section of this route have already arrived in the city. Notably, tunnel construction is slated to commence shortly beneath congested and densely populated old city areas like Rajwada. The entire Yellow Line route is targeted for full operationalization by December 2028.

Priority Corridor Clears Safety Standards

Recently, a team from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) completed a comprehensive safety inspection of the 17.5-kilometer priority corridor. The inspection rigorously evaluated various safety standards, including station management, automatic signaling systems, emergency brake mechanisms, and passenger facilities.

The project received safety clearance only after meeting all these critical parameters, underscoring a strong commitment to passenger safety.

Boosting Smart Transport and Real Estate

The Indore Metro project is poised to bring numerous benefits to the city's future. These modern metro trains, equipped with Grade-4 automation, will help reduce pollution levels and significantly manage traffic congestion.

Furthermore, areas such as the Super Corridor, MR-10, and Gandhi Nagar are expected to see a surge in commercial and residential real estate development due to this project. The metro will provide direct and seamless connectivity between the airport, inter-state bus stand, and major commercial hubs, easing commutes and stimulating economic activity.
