Indore Jail Inmates Craft 1.25 Lakh Parthiv Shivlings in Two Hours, Setting World Record

Record-Breaking Spiritual Endeavor in Indore Jail

As part of efforts to promote spiritual, mental, and social rehabilitation of inmates in Madhya Pradesh jails, an extraordinary achievement has been recorded at Indore Central Jail. During the auspicious occasion of Shravan Maas, inmates managed to construct 1.25 lakh (125,000) Parthiv Shivlings within a mere two-hour timeframe.

This unique initiative has been registered in the 'World Book of Records, London', marking a significant step forward in prison reform and inmate rehabilitation. The event was held on August 10, 2026, to commemorate the fifth year of Shivling installation at Central Jail Indore.

Inauguration and Mass Participation

The chief guest of the program was Dr. Varun Kapoor, Director General of Jail and Correctional Services, Madhya Pradesh. He, along with his wife Mrs. Soumya Kapoor, formally inaugurated the grand ritual of constructing 1.25 lakh Parthiv Shivlings by crafting the first one.

This spiritual event, marked by collective participation and a world record, saw approximately 1,000 male inmates and 51 female inmates from Indore Central Jail participating together. All the inmates collectively completed the construction of 1.25 lakh Parthiv Shivlings within the stipulated time limit. Their collective participation, discipline, and devotion have made this event a benchmark in prison reform and rehabilitation.

Promoting Positivity and Mental Peace

The primary objective of this spiritual gathering was to enhance the mental health and inner peace of the inmates by connecting them with religious and spiritual activities. Additionally, it aimed to foster positive thinking, strengthen self-discipline, and instill human values within them.

The jail administration believes that such activities are instrumental in reconnecting inmates with mainstream society and bringing about positive changes in their personalities. Several jail officials, including Jail Superintendent Shri Dinesh Nargave, Deputy Jail Superintendents Shri Inder Singh Nagar and Shri Santosh Kumar Ladia, and Senior Probation and Welfare Officer Shri Abhishek Dangi, were present on this significant occasion.
