The Indian entertainment world is in mourning following the sudden demise of veteran actor Satish Shah, aged 74, who passed away on Saturday, October 25, in Mumbai due to kidney failure. Renowned for his impeccable comic timing and unforgettable role in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Shah’s passing has left fans, colleagues, and the film fraternity deeply saddened.
Final Goodbye at Vile Parle Crematorium
On Sunday morning, Shah’s mortal remains were brought home for antim darshan, before being laid to rest at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle West. The funeral was attended by family, close friends, and several luminaries from the film and television industry, including Jackie Shroff, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Ashoke Pandit, Johny Lever, Ratna Pathak Shah, David Dhawan, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajesh Kumar, Roopa Ganguly, Dilip Joshi, JD Majethia, and Aanjjan Srivastav.
Emotional scenes unfolded as colleagues paid their respects. Rupali Ganguly was seen consoling Shah’s family, while Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also visited to offer condolences.

Anupam Kher Remembers His Friend
Actor Anupam Kher, who learned of Shah’s passing while in Switzerland, shared a heartfelt message recalling their friendship.
“Kya ho raha hai yeh? 3-4 din mein itne acche acche log chale gaye. He was a very good friend of mine… Satish, we will miss you. There are no words… most amazing actor, human being, person.”
Kher fondly remembered addressing Shah as “Satish mere Shah”, reflecting the affection shared over decades of collaboration in films.
