Dubai Emerges as a Global Hub for Indian Enterprises

Dubai, United Arab Emirates is strengthening its position as a premier global center for Indian businesses and companies. As of the end of June 2026, the number of actively registered Indian companies with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce surpassed 85,841, underscoring the escalating economic ties between the two nations.

Over the past year, Indian companies have seen a notable 15% increase in their membership. Significantly, from January to June 2026 alone, 7,579 new Indian companies registered with the Dubai Chamber. This surge is also reflected in the growing non-oil trade between India and Dubai.

Record Non-Oil Trade and Economic Partnership

In 2025, non-oil trade between the two reached a record 222.5 billion dirhams, a substantial leap from 94.2 billion dirhams in 2016. This marks a remarkable 136.2% increase in trade over a decade. In 2025 alone, non-oil trade grew by 15%, positioning India as Dubai's second-largest trading partner.

Beyond traditional trade, emerging sectors like new technology, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence are charting a new course for economic relations between the two countries. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), implemented in May 2022, has injected fresh impetus into the bilateral trade relationship.

Dominance in Trade and Services, with Emerging Sector Growth

The activities of Indian companies in Dubai span various sectors, with trade and services being the most prominent, contributing 45% to the total share. Following closely are real estate, leasing, and business services, accounting for 27.3%, while the construction sector holds the third position with 19%.

These figures clearly indicate that Indian entrepreneurs are no longer limited to import-export activities. They are establishing offices in Dubai, strengthening their presence in long-term business operations, real estate ventures, and diverse service sectors.

Growing Investment Flows and Job Creation

Beyond trade, India and Dubai's relationship is continually strengthening on the investment front. From 2016 to 2025, approximately 32.3 billion dirhams were invested from India into Dubai, including about 8.4 billion dirhams in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2025 alone. Conversely, Dubai-based companies have also invested significantly in the Indian economy.

Between 2016 and 2025, Dubai companies invested 34.1 billion dirhams in 147 projects in India, creating approximately 55,274 job opportunities. The CEPA agreement has played a crucial role in reducing trade barriers, enhancing market access, and opening new avenues for businesses in both nations.

Dubai's Growing Relevance for Indian Companies

Dubai's strategic geographical location and excellent global connectivity are the primary drivers of its appeal to Indian companies. From Dubai, businesses can access not only the vast UAE market but also gain a strong platform for expansion into the Middle East, Africa, and other international markets.

Dubai's state-of-the-art infrastructure, international air and sea connectivity, favorable business environment, and easy access to investors and customers make it an ideal destination for Indian businesses. This strategic positioning leads many Indian entrepreneurs to view Dubai as a vital hub for their international operations.

Future Plans in AI and Digital Economy

The India-Dubai business partnership is now extending beyond traditional trade into cutting-edge fields such as Agentic AI, Deep Tech, FinTech, and Digital Services. Dubai's rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is expected to create new opportunities for Indian technology companies.

The Dubai Chambers is actively working to enhance collaboration in the AI sector with Indian technology companies and experts. Discussions are also underway regarding a potential AI corridor between Dubai and Bengaluru, aiming to facilitate access for Indian tech talent to Middle Eastern, African, and global markets.

Dubai as a Global Launchpad

The crossing of 85,841 active Indian companies in Dubai is a significant indicator of India's expanding global business footprint. Indian companies are now leveraging Dubai not just as a regional market but as a global launchpad to enhance their international reach.

Further growth in India-Dubai cooperation is anticipated in sectors like AI, the digital economy, FinTech, logistics, real estate, construction, and professional services. The increasing trade, investment flows, and the influx of new Indian companies in Dubai are strengthening this economic partnership, marking Dubai as a key hub for global commerce.
