The Indian men's squash team has officially secured at least a bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026, following their decisive 2-0 victory over Kuwait in the quarterfinals. The high-stakes match took place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday, marking another significant achievement for India in the sport.

This win guarantees a podium finish for the defending gold medalists, who are now set to face Malaysia in the semifinal round. The Indian contingent demonstrated strong performance, clinching the tie without dropping a single match.

Men's Team Dominates Quarterfinal Clash

The Indian men's team showcased remarkable dominance against Kuwait. Veer Chotrani opened the proceedings, defeating Bader Almoghrebi with a commanding 3-1 scoreline. Chotrani's victory came with game scores of 12-10, 8-11, 11-0, and 11-5.

Following Chotrani's lead, Abhay Singh confirmed India's advancement to the semifinals by securing a straight-games victory against Kuwait's Ammar Al-Tamimi. Singh triumphed with a score of 3-0, the game scores being 11-3, 11-4, and 11-8, thus sealing the tie comfortably for India.

Women's Team Also Clinches Medal

Adding to India's success in squash, the women's team also confirmed a medal for the nation on Tuesday. They defeated Singapore 2-0 in their respective quarterfinal match, ensuring their presence on the podium.

The women's semifinal opponent is yet to be finalized. The Indian women secured their medal through strong performances in the singles matches. Tanvi Khanna gave India a winning start by overcoming Wai Iynn Au Yeong 3-1, with game scores of 11-6, 5-11, 15-13, and 11-1. Anahat Singh then sealed the tie for India with a dominant 3-0 win over Wai Yhann Au Yeong, winning 11-7, 11-3, and 11-4.

Previous Individual Successes

This team medal adds to India's already impressive haul in squash at the Asian Games 2026. Earlier in the competition, Anahat Singh secured a silver medal in the women's singles, narrowly missing out on gold after losing to Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam 3-0.

Similarly, in the men's singles final, Abhay Singh also claimed a silver medal. He was defeated by Malaysia's Ng Eain Yow with a score of 9-11, 5-11, and 5-11.
