India has left a deep spiritual and historical mark at the prestigious four-day 'Busan International Buddhism Expo 2026' held in Busan, South Korea. The Indian Embassy in South Korea actively participated in this global cultural gathering, which concluded at the 'Bexco' Convention Center.

'Gaya to Gyeongju' Exhibition Captivates Visitors

Amidst the expo's central theme of 'Emptiness and Modern Life,' the special exhibition titled 'Gaya to Gyeongju: India-Korea Friendship Through Buddha Dhamma,' presented by the Indian Pavilion, became a focal point for visitors. The Indian Embassy in South Korea shared images of the exhibition on 'X' (formerly Twitter), describing the initiative as a 'Journey of Shared Buddhist Heritage.' According to the embassy, this exhibition brought India's rich Buddhist heritage closer to Korean audiences and increased their interest in India, the birthplace of Buddhism.

Promoting Cultural Ties and Spiritual Tourism

The primary objective of this exhibition was to showcase India's sacred 'Buddha Circuit' and the centuries-old civilizational, cultural, and diplomatic ties between the two nations. The exhibition traced the historical journey from 'Gaya' (ancient Gaya Kingdom of Korea, believed to be connected to Ayodhya in India) to 'Gyeongju' (center of the Shilla Dynasty), the spiritual capital of South Korea. It conveyed the message of how 'Buddha Dhamma' has connected the hearts of both countries for thousands of years.

Strengthening Bonds Through Shared Heritage

From a cultural perspective, the event sparked immense curiosity among Korean citizens and global visitors to visit India's Buddhist pilgrimage sites and experience 'Spiritual India.' Young people and Buddhist monks at the expo gained a deeper understanding of India's ancient meditation traditions, art, and historical diplomatic connections.
