India Clinch Second Successive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Title, Beat Chinese Taipei 35–28 in Dhaka

The Indian women’s kabaddi team created history on Monday by clinching their second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title, defeating a strong Chinese Taipei side 35–28 in a high-intensity final in Dhaka.

Dominant Run to the Trophy

India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament:

• Group Stage: Won all matches convincingly

• Semi-final: Outclassed Iran 33–21

• Final: Held their nerve to overcome Chinese Taipei 35–28

Chinese Taipei also entered the final unbeaten, having defeated hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in their semi-final, but were unable to stop India’s clinical performance in the title clash.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team for their historic achievement and said the victory would inspire generations.

“Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for making the nation proud by winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025! They have showcased outstanding grit, skills and dedication. Their victory will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher,” the PM wrote on X.

Former India captain and Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur lauded the team’s performance, calling it a milestone in the rise of women’s kabaddi.

“Their dominant run to the final and then the trophy shows how much women’s kabaddi has progressed in the last few years. It’s a proud moment for India and a testament to the sport’s global appeal,” he told ProKabaddi.com.

This year’s Women’s Kabaddi World Cup witnessed participation from 11 countries, underlining the sport’s rapidly increasing international footprint.
