Veteran squash star and Chennai favourite Joshna Chinappa gave India the perfect start in the opening women’s singles match. She defeated Ka Yi Lee 3–1 (7–3, 2–7, 7–5, 7–1), showcasing experience and composure against a higher-ranked opponent.
Despite not featuring in India’s semifinal against Egypt, the world No. 79 quickly found her rhythm against Lee (world No. 37). Joshna sealed the contest in the fourth game with her trademark drop shots, drawing loud cheers from the crowd as Hong Kong’s resistance faded.
