INDIA Bloc Unveils Bihar Manifesto ‘Tejashwi Pran’; Promises ₹2,500 Monthly Aid for Women, 200 Units Free Power

The opposition INDIA bloc on Tuesday unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, branding it as “Bihar ka Tejashwi Pran” — a document of commitments aimed at reshaping the state’s development narrative under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav.

Unveiling the manifesto in Patna, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and the alliance’s chief ministerial face, Tejashwi Yadav, described it as a “vision blueprint” with 25 major commitments offering practical solutions to Bihar’s persistent unemployment, poverty, and infrastructural gaps.

Among the headline promises are:

• ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance for women.

• 200 units of free electricity for all households.

• Permanent employment for Jeevika Didis and contractual workers in various government departments.

• A salary of ₹30,000 per month for Jeevika Didis once regularised.

• Development of IT parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), dairy and agro-based industries, and an education city.

• Construction of five new expressways to boost connectivity and investment.

The alliance has also proposed an ambitious employment guarantee law, which it pledges to implement within 20 days of forming the government, ensuring the scheme becomes operational across the state within 20 months.

Key Social and Religious Commitments

The manifesto includes a notable religious reform promise — handing over the administration of Lord Buddha’s temples at Bodh Gaya to the Buddhist community, a long-standing demand of several Buddhist organisations.

It also vows to remove the 50% cap on caste-based reservations through a state assembly resolution and recommend placing the new provision in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution to shield it from judicial review.

Leadership and Alliance Dynamics

The INDIA bloc also formally announced Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani as its Deputy Chief Minister candidate, reinforcing its social coalition outreach.

“This is a manifesto of action, not rhetoric. The people of Bihar are ready for a crime-free and scam-free regime,” Tejashwi said during the release. He accused the NDA of lacking a “vision or agenda” for the state and claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had become “a puppet in the BJP’s hands”.

Congress leader Pawan Khera echoed the sentiment, saying, “We were the first to announce our CM face and our pledges. This reflects who is genuinely thinking about Bihar’s future, not just playing politics.”

Poll Schedule

Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.

The INDIA bloc comprises the RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPI(M), and VIP, while the NDA alliance is led by the BJP and JD(U).
