Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Encroachments at Gauri Sarovar

Bhind, Madhya Pradesh - A significant administrative action was carried out on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. In strict adherence to the directives from the National Green Tribunal (NGT), illegal encroachments, including box-like structures and kiosks situated along the banks of Gauri Sarovar, were razed to the ground with the assistance of bulldozers.

The operation, which caused a stir among the encroachers, was conducted jointly by the Municipality and the Police Force. Officials, accompanied by administrative personnel, utilized JCB machines to dismantle the illegal occupations that were obstructing the natural form of the lake.

NGT Orders Enforced for Lake's Beautification and Environmental Protection

This stringent action has been taken with the aim of beautifying Gauri Sarovar and protecting its environment. Citing clear orders from the NGT, officials stated that shopkeepers had erected illegal structures and kiosks along the lake's banks for a considerable period. These encroachments were not only affecting the lake's natural beauty but also narrowing the pathways, negatively impacting the lake's ecosystem.

Present during the demolition drive were SDM Bhind Akhilesh Sharma, Municipality CMO Virendra Chakravarty, Station House Officer City Kotwali Mukesh Shakya, along with several other municipal officials and employees. A heavy police presence ensured the smooth completion of the operation.

Demolition Drive Causes Commotion Among Encroachers

As the administrative team, supported by a large contingent of police and JCB machines, arrived at the banks of Gauri Sarovar, an atmosphere of chaos ensued among the encroachers. The Municipality's JCB machines immediately commenced work, swiftly demolishing dozens of kiosks and other illegal occupations along the roadside and around the lake.

This decisive action once again underscored the administration's strong resolve to remove encroachments.
