IAS Officer Santosh Kumar Verma Issued Show-Cause Notice Over Controversial Remarks Against Brahmin Community

The state government has issued a show-cause notice to IAS officer Santosh Kumar Verma for making a controversial remark against the Brahmin community during an event on Wednesday night. The government termed his comment as “indiscipline and misconduct.”

According to the notice, Verma has been asked to explain within seven days why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

The Controversial Statement

The incident took place during an AJAKS (Association of Officers and Employees of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes) convention, where Verma reportedly said that “a person should continue to get reservation until a Brahmin donates his daughter to his son.”

The remark triggered strong objections from members of the Brahmin community, who condemned the statement as an attempt to divide society and spread disharmony.

Government Action

Taking cognizance of the backlash, the government moved quickly to serve the notice. Officials stated that such comments violate the code of conduct expected from a civil servant.

Verma is currently serving as Deputy Secretary, Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Department.

Further action will depend on his written response to the government’s notice.
