Comprehensive Awareness Campaign Launched
Guna | October 15, 2026 - On the occasion of Global Handwashing Day, an extensive awareness campaign was organized in the Guna district with the inspiring message, 'Wash hands with soap, and diseases will vanish from life'.
The primary objective of this program, conducted under the directives of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajkumar Rishishwar, was to motivate the general public to develop the habit of regular handwashing for disease prevention.
Promoting Proper Handwashing Techniques
As part of this campaign, health workers demonstrated correct handwashing methods at various health institutions and educational centers across the district. They emphasized that hand hygiene is the simplest and most effective measure to prevent numerous serious infections.
Citizens were particularly encouraged to wash their hands with soap before eating meals and after using the toilet. The importance of thorough handwashing, including cleaning between fingers and under nails, was highlighted.
Training and Emphasis on Waterborne Diseases
At the Pagara Health Center, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, teachers, and students received detailed training on all essential steps of handwashing with soap. The training stressed that merely wetting hands with water is insufficient; a thorough lathering with soap is crucial for effective cleaning.
Community Health Officer Arzoo Dhakad at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Amoda, shared information on preventing waterborne diseases with attendees. She underscored the significance of using clean drinking water and maintaining personal hygiene. She explained how regular and proper handwashing can prevent the spread of many illnesses.
Call for Daily Practice and Healthy Community Building
The Health Department appealed to the residents of the district to incorporate handwashing as a permanent part of their daily lifestyle, rather than just a one-day activity. This campaign aimed to instill good hygiene habits in children from an early age, thereby ensuring the construction of a healthy community.
