Hundreds from BJP and SP Join Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Ajay Rai Welcomes Them

Congress Strengthens Ranks in Uttar Pradesh

In a significant political boost for the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, hundreds of workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) joined the Congress on September 1, 2026. These individuals, hailing from the districts of Auraiya, Etawah, and Ghazipur, expressed their faith in the Congress party's policies and formally accepted party membership in the presence of the State Congress Committee President, Shri Ajay Rai.

Shri Rai extended a warm welcome to all the new members into the Congress family. Overseeing the membership induction process, the State Congress Joining In-charge, Shri Nitin Sharma, officially granted primary membership of the Congress party to all these individuals. Prominent leaders from various districts also made the decision to join the Congress, bringing their supporters with them.

Key Leaders and Workers Switch Allegiance

From Ghazipur district, Shri Durgesh Pratap Singh left the Samajwadi Party to join the Congress, a move considered a significant addition for the party in the region. Additionally, several workers from Auraiya, led by District Congress Committee President Smt. Sarita Dohre and senior leader Shridhar Maklu Pandey, who were previously with the Bharatiya Janata Party, also took up Congress membership.

In Etawah district, a large contingent including Shivam Dubey, Shiva, Anurag Chaubey, Satyam, Mohit Dubey, Anshul, Ravi Kumar, Jitendra Kumar, Akash Kumar, Ankit Tiwari, Ankit Pandey, Purushottam Dubey, Kavya Tiwari, Shivam Sharma, Sanjay Pandey, Alok Tiwari, Sonu Sharma, Upendra Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Janaki Vatika, and Gagan Dubey, joined the Congress. From Auraiya, Alok Dubey, Umesh Chandra, Vishnu, and Rahul Singh also accepted membership in the Congress party.

Pledge to Protect Democracy and the Constitution

State Congress President Shri Ajay Rai, a former minister, congratulated the new members, stating that their inclusion in the Congress family will infuse new energy into the party's ongoing struggle to protect democracy and the constitution. He expressed confidence that together, they will succeed in ousting the Bharatiya Janata Party government from the state in the upcoming assembly elections.
