Tragic Inferno Claims Lives on Yamuna Expressway

A devastating incident occurred late Wednesday night on the Yamuna Expressway, where a private double-decker sleeper bus en route to Agra from Greater Noida turned into a fireball. The tragedy near Dayanpur village claimed the lives of at least nine passengers aboard the bus.

Approximately 35 passengers were on the bus when the incident took place. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire erupted suddenly around 11 PM, rapidly engulfing the entire vehicle. The intensity of the blaze trapped many passengers inside, while others desperately attempted to escape by jumping from the windows amidst the chaos.

Swift Rescue Operations Underway

Upon receiving information about the accident, local police and fire department teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Four to five fire tenders and water tankers were deployed to combat the inferno. After the flames were extinguished, rescue operations commenced to extricate passengers trapped within the bus.

A significant police presence was established at the site to manage the situation and prevent any disorder. The police have arrested the bus driver and conductor and have registered a case to initiate a thorough investigation into the incident.

Investigation Launched into Cause of Fire

Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit in the bus's air conditioning (AC) system may have sparked the fire. However, the definitive cause of the blaze will only be confirmed upon the completion of the investigation.

The severe accident caused temporary disruption to traffic on the Yamuna Expressway. Police and administrative teams are diligently working to complete relief efforts at the scene and are thoroughly examining all aspects of the incident.
