Honeytrap Gang Busted in Bhind; Two Arrested, Including a Woman

Gang's Modus Operandi Revealed

The police in Dehat police station, Bhind district, have successfully dismantled a notorious gang specializing in honeytrap schemes. This group preyed on unsuspecting individuals, extorting lakhs of rupees through blackmail. Authorities have apprehended two accused, including a woman, while two other accomplices remain at large and are being actively sought.

According to initial reports, a complainant approached the police with a disturbing account. Approximately fifteen days prior, a woman had contacted him via phone, posing as a relative. She invited him to meet near the Circuit House and subsequently took him to her residence under the guise of having tea.

Blackmail and Extortion

Upon arrival at the residence, other members of the gang, already present, proceeded to record the complainant in an objectionable video. Subsequently, using this compromising footage, the accused threatened to viral the video on social media, falsely implicate him in rape cases, and even threatened his life. In fear, the gang demanded five lakh rupees from the victim, managing to extort one lakh rupees in cash within a two-hour window.

Police Action and Investigation

A case has been registered under crime number 670/26, and an investigation has commenced. Acting swiftly under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, a special team utilized technical evidence to apprehend two accused near the Circuit House on Sunday. Preliminary inquiries indicate that the absconding accused have prior involvement in similar honeytrap incidents.

The police are now working to identify other potential victims and uncover the full extent of the gang's criminal history. The Bhind police urge the public to report any instances of blackmail to the nearest police station without hesitation. The Station House Officer and other police personnel have been commended for their commendable role in this operation.
