Himachal student’s final video details alleged sexual assault, police probe underway

A 19-year-old student from Himachal Pradesh has died after allegedly facing sexual assault, ragging and prolonged mental harassment at her college. A chilling video recorded while she was undergoing treatment has now surfaced, in which she recounts her ordeal and accuses both senior students and a professor.

The case has drawn statewide attention as police confirm that a formal investigation is underway, with authorities examining medical records, digital evidence and witness statements.

What the student alleged before her death

According to the complaint filed by her father, the student was physically assaulted by three senior students and sexually harassed by a college professor. In the purported hospital video, she is heard describing inappropriate behaviour and repeated harassment, stating that it left her traumatised and unwell.

Police sources said the student’s health deteriorated steadily following the alleged incidents. She died on December 26 while undergoing treatment in Ludhiana, after initially falling ill in Dharamshala.

Police confirm case registration

Kangra Superintendent of Police Ashok Ratan confirmed that a case has been registered based on the father’s complaint. Speaking to PTI, he said all allegations are being thoroughly investigated, including medical documents, video footage and statements from everyone named in the complaint.

The accused named by the family include three senior students and a college professor identified as Ashok Kumar. Police have not yet confirmed arrests, stating that the investigation is at a critical evidence-verification stage.
