First big snowfall blankets the hills

The upper reaches of Bhaderwah valley, Patnitop, Nathatop, Sanasar, and Batote witnessed the first heavy snowfall of the season. Roads, rooftops, and orchards are now covered in thick snow, drawing tourists but slowing local movement.

Himachal reels under sub-zero temperatures

In Himachal Pradesh, the fresh spell of snow pushed temperatures to minus 7°C in Kusumkheri, among the lowest recorded this winter. Several interior villages have reported frozen water lines and limited mobility.

Highways shut, over 1,300 roads closed

The snowfall and continuous rain led to closure of key national highways including stretches connecting Jammu to interior districts. According to state officials, more than 1,300 routes remain blocked due to accumulated snow and landslide risks.

UP weather alert issued

The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rainfall across 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh, warning of strong winds and sudden temperature drops.
