Ayushman Diwas Celebrated in Damoh, Beneficiaries Receive Health Security Cards

Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, launched to alleviate concerns over treatment costs during illness, a special program was organized at the Damoh District Hospital on the occasion of Ayushman Diwas. During this event, Ayushman cards were distributed to needy families, enabling them to benefit from the health security cover.

The program was attended by District Expansion and Media Officer Dr. Ashok Baroniya and District Ayushman Coordinator Dr. Mukesh Patel, along with other health officials. The officials highlighted the importance of the scheme and the comprehensive benefits it offers.

Scheme Progress and Benefits in Damoh

According to official data, a total of 9,38,216 Ayushman cards have been successfully issued in Damoh district to date. Under the health security cover, the Damoh District Hospital has provided free treatment worth approximately ₹135 crore to 81,000 beneficiaries so far.

The ambitious scheme by the Government of India covers 1,961 treatment procedures across 27 medical specialities. Each eligible family receives an annual health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh, offering financial assistance for the treatment of serious illnesses.

Special Provisions for Senior Citizens

In a significant announcement, officials clarified that senior citizens aged 70 years and above will now also receive health security cover. An arrangement for 'Ayushman Vay Vandana Card' has been made for them, providing coverage of up to ₹5 lakh.

There is no income-based restriction for this coverage, offering considerable relief to the elderly citizens of the state. This initiative aims to ensure that senior citizens have access to vital healthcare without financial barriers.

Importance of Digital Health ID Emphasized

During the event, five beneficiaries were symbolically issued their Digital Health IDs, also known as ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs. Officials underscored the importance of this digital identification, explaining its role in securely storing health-related information.

In emergency situations, this ID aids doctors in quickly accessing a patient's health history, making the treatment process simpler and more effective. A key objective of this event was to encourage citizens to get their Ayushman cards made and raise awareness about the significance of a digital health identity.
