Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur delivered a stellar performance to secure a silver medal in the women's 69kg weightlifting event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. The 29-year-old athlete achieved a personal best, lifting a total of 227kg (101kg snatch + 126kg clean & jerk), and also broke the Commonwealth Games record twice during the competition.

Record-Breaking Snatch Performance

Hailing from Nabha, Punjab, Harjinder Kaur showcased exceptional skill in the snatch discipline. She successfully completed all three of her attempts, lifting 96kg, then 99kg, and finally 101kg. Her final two snatch lifts established a new Commonwealth Games record, giving her a strong advantage in the competition.

Continued Dominance in Clean & Jerk

Following her record-setting snatch performance, Harjinder maintained her impressive momentum in the clean & jerk. She successfully lifted 120kg in her first attempt and followed it up with a 123kg lift. These two successful lifts brought her total weight to 227kg. Despite a strong attempt to break the Commonwealth Games record in the clean & jerk as well, her overall performance demonstrated immense confidence and skill.
