Bridge Collapse Disrupts Commute in Guna's Ward 7

The relentless monsoon rains in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, have thrown normal life into disarray. A crucial bridge over the Panariya River in Ward Number 7 has been swept away by the strong water current. The damage to the bridge is causing significant difficulties for thousands of residents in the area, impacting their daily commutes.

The collapse highlights a recurring problem that resurfaces every monsoon season, while the demand for its permanent construction has remained unfulfilled for years. Local residents and ward members state that when the river's water level rises during the rainy season, the bridge experiences an excessive flow of water.

This situation not only hinders transportation but also forces people to risk their lives crossing the damaged structure. This recurring issue during every monsoon exposes the bridge's dilapidated and incomplete construction status.

Administration's Silence on Pending Construction Demands

Ward Councillor Mahesh Kushwah has been actively campaigning for the construction of this bridge for years. He has repeatedly appealed to the local administration and elected representatives regarding this matter. In December 2025, Councillor Kushwah even wrote a letter to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, bringing the issue to his attention.

In this letter, he also raised demands for other essential development works in the ward, including the reconstruction of the crematorium, the construction of a boundary wall, and the establishment of a new park, in addition to the bridge's construction. Union Minister Scindia acknowledged the councillor's application and forwarded it to the District Magistrate of Guna for appropriate action. Despite this, the bridge construction work has not been completed to date, raising fears of increased public hardship in the upcoming monsoon season.

Local Residents Demand Immediate Intervention

Local residents, frustrated by the problems caused by the damaged bridge, have demanded immediate intervention from the administration and the municipality. They have urged the administration to expedite the bridge's construction and ensure a safe and permanent arrangement for commuting.

People are expressing that the delays in development works are causing them significant inconvenience, and this situation needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
