Advanced Polyhouse Rose Cultivation Underway in Guna
Guna, August 21, 2026 - For the first time in Guna district, a progressive farmer in village Rijoada is cultivating Dutch roses using advanced polyhouse technology. Under the Chief Minister's Jan Vishwas Abhiyan, District Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal inspected the fields of farmer Akbar Hussain Faizi on Friday, examining the modern techniques being employed.
This innovative technology precisely controls water, fertilizer, and nutrient management according to the crop's needs. This not only conserves resources but also ensures high-quality production. The polyhouse, spread over approximately 3 acres, utilizes sensor-based automation and a fertigation system.
The system automatically regulates Electrical Conductivity (EC), pH, water quantity, and fertilizer dilution for rose cultivation. This ensures plants receive the exact amount of water and nutrients they require, preventing wastage. Additionally, the technology maintains uniformity in rose quality and reduces labor and human intervention.
Farming Employing Modern Technology
Collector Kanyal gathered detailed information from farmer Akbar Hussain Faizi about the implementation of this advanced technique, including manure and nutrient management, water requirements, and special plant care processes. He closely observed the current condition of the rose crop planted inside the polyhouse and shared his experiences of adopting the advanced technology.
Orchard and Pack House Plans
Farmer Akbar Hussain Faizi stated that plans are also underway to establish an Integrated Pack House to provide a better market for roses produced in the polyhouse. This pack house is proposed to include cold storage facilities, other post-harvest amenities, and refrigerated vans. The aim is to ensure the safe storage and temperature-controlled transportation of roses and other horticultural products.
The farmer also mentioned preparations for developing an orchard across approximately 5 hectares. Present at the inspection were Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat Abhishek Dubey, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manjusha Khatri, Deputy Director Horticulture K.P.S. Kirar, Deputy Director Agriculture Sanjeev Sharma, and other district and block-level officials.
