Major Arrest in Embezzlement Case
Guna Police have achieved a significant success by arresting a major accused involved in fraud from Maharashtra. The accused, Sunil Shankar Pawar, is alleged to have embezzled over ₹1 crore from grain merchants at the Nana Khedi Agricultural Produce Market in exchange for wheat purchases. This swift action by the Cantt police not only led to the arrest but also resulted in freezing ₹19 lakh from his bank accounts.
This case once again underscores the Guna Police's firm stance against economic offenses. Under the effective leadership of Superintendent of Police Hitika Vatsal, crimes like fraud and embezzlement are being effectively curbed across the district. The case came to light when grain merchants, including Sanjeev Kumar Jain, Shivanarayan Kushwah, Mahendra Kushwah, and Ramkrishna Raghuvanshi, submitted a detailed application to Superintendent of Police Hitika Vatsal, reporting the fraud committed by Sunil Shankar Pawar.
Accused Operated Under Balaji Trading Company
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, operating as Balaji Trading Company at the Nana Khedi Agricultural Produce Market, had been in the business of purchasing wheat from merchants for approximately two months. During this period, he purchased large quantities of wheat from various merchants. While he made some initial partial payments for the purchased wheat, he eventually began to delay and ultimately refused to pay the remaining substantial amount.
This led to a total fraud of ₹1,02,78,889, causing financial distress to numerous merchants. Given the seriousness of the case and the large number of victims, Superintendent of Police Hitika Vatsal directed immediate and stringent action against the accused, Sunil Pawar. In compliance with these orders, the Cantt police registered a case under Section 318(4) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), crime number 678/26, and commenced a serious search for the accused.
Interstate Arrest and Fund Seizure
During the investigation, crucial information was received that the accused, Sunil Pawar, is a native of Solapur district in Maharashtra. Upon receiving this information, a special police team from the Cantt police station was immediately dispatched to Solapur to apprehend the accused at his hometown. The formed police team demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, showcasing their interstate operational efficiency and technical expertise in Solapur.
After several days of relentless efforts and an intensive search operation, the police team successfully arrested the accused, Sunil son of Shankar Pawar (aged 45, resident of Mohal Tal, District Solapur, Maharashtra) in Solapur. Following the arrest, preliminary investigations led to the identification of bank accounts linked to the accused. It was discovered that a total of ₹19 lakh was deposited in these accounts.
Considering this amount as part of the fraud proceeds, the police initiated immediate legal proceedings and froze the ₹19 lakh in these bank accounts. This action aims to prevent further transfer of funds and facilitate the recovery of money for the victims in the future.
Strict Stance Against Economic Offenses
Guna Police are adopting an extremely strict and zero-tolerance approach towards the increasing economic offenses in the district, including cheating, fraud, embezzlement, and forgery. Under the able leadership of Superintendent of Police Hitika Vatsal, special campaigns are continuously being run across the district to curb these economic crimes and ensure justice for the victims.
Under the active guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Singh Suman and CSP Guna Anand Rai, Cantt Station House Officer Inspector Anup Kumar Bhargav and his dedicated team have demonstrated exceptional competence in solving this complex interstate fraud case. Currently, an in-depth and detailed investigation is underway regarding the full amount defrauded, transaction details in the accused's various bank accounts, and all other critical facts and evidence related to this entire incident.
The primary objective of the Guna Police is not only to arrest and imprison all individuals involved in these heinous economic crimes and bring them to justice but also to ensure the 100% recovery of the victims' hard-earned money and invested capital. Furthermore, the police are actively working to gather information about illegal assets and bank accounts acquired by the accused through various means and to confiscate them, thereby sending a strong deterrent message to future offenders.
