Guna Police Seize 26 Lakhs Worth of Smack, Arrest Supplier

Major Drug Bust in Guna District

Chanchowra police in Guna district have foiled a significant drug smuggling operation, apprehending a smuggler with 257.5 grams of smack valued at approximately 26 lakh rupees. The operation did not stop there; the supplier of the smack, identified during preliminary interrogation, has also been implicated under the NDPS Act.

This major bust raises hopes for uncovering the drug network active in the district, and the police are rigorously investigating other facilitators and channels involved in the smuggling. This success is a testament to the well-planned and alert action taken by Chanchowra Police Station Chief Inspector Dilip Rajoria and his team, under the direction of Guna Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Singh Suman, and supervision of SDOP Chanchowra Manoj Kumar Jha.

Operation Based on Credible Tip-off

The operation was conducted on the night of September 5, 2026, based on reliable informant information. The tip indicated that a young man was transporting a large quantity of illegal narcotic substance, smack, from Mrigwas towards Chanchowra on a Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle (License Plate MP08 MR 65, with two digits erased).

Acting swiftly on this crucial information, the Chanchowra police formed a team and set up a strategic roadblock at the Chaudreshwar Temple intersection on the Chanchowra-Mrigwas road. Shortly thereafter, a youth matching the informant's description was spotted approaching on a motorcycle. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee, but the vigilant police team quickly cordoned off the area and apprehended him.

Smuggler Apprehended, Supplier Identified

During interrogation, the apprehended youth identified himself as Ranjit, son of Raghuvir Meena (aged 21, resident of village Ranikhejra, Police Station Chanchowra, District Guna). A thorough search of the suspect led to the recovery of a total of 257.5 grams of illegal narcotic substance smack from his possession. The estimated value of the seized smack was approximately 25,50,000 rupees, while the motorcycle used in the crime is valued at around 50,000 rupees. Thus, the police seized contraband worth a total of approximately 26 lakh rupees and arrested the accused.

In his initial confession, accused Ranjit revealed that he had purchased the smack from Mohan, son of Shantilal Sahu (resident of village Ranikhejra, Police Station Chanchowra), from his own village in Mrigwas. Based on this vital information, the police have also named Mohan Sahu as an accused in this case. A case has been registered against both accused under Sections 8/21, 29 of the NDPS Act at Crime Number 297/26 in Chanchowra Police Station, and investigation is underway.

Network Investigation Underway

The police are currently conducting a detailed investigation with accused Ranjit regarding the source of the smack, other smuggling channels, and potential network connections. The prompt action taken against Mohan Sahu, based on information provided by the arrested smuggler Ranjit, demonstrates that Guna Police are not only focused on apprehending primary smugglers but are also actively working to dismantle the entire supply chain.

Breaking such networks is crucial in curbing the spread of drugs, which poses a grave threat to society. The successful operation was executed by a team including Chanchowra Police Station Chief Inspector Dilip Rajoria, Binaganj Outpost Chief Sub-Inspector Neeraj Lodhi, SI Arunpratap Bhadauria, SI Rakesh Bhil, Head Constable Ashok Wariya, Head Constable Ankush Maurya, Head Constable Vishnu Gurjar, Constable Rohit Bhadauria, Constable Amit Rajawat, Constable Navdeep Sharma, Constable Jasrath Kushwaha, Constable Devesh Dhakad, and Constable Rajesh Kevat.

The relentless efforts and sharp acumen of all these officers and jawans made this significant achievement possible, underscoring the increasing pressure on drug traffickers by the police. Guna Police have sent a clear message that no individual involved in the illegal drug trade within the district will be spared.
