Excise Department Intensifies Action Against Illicit Liquor in Guna

The Excise Department in Guna district has significantly ramped up its operations against the manufacturing, sale, and transportation of illicit liquor. This intensified campaign, launched under the special directives of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and guided by Gwalior Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Sharma, aims to curb the dangers posed by poisonous liquor.

Under the direct supervision of District Excise Officer Guruprasad Kewat, the department conducted raids in sensitive areas under the Chanchora excise circle. A team led by L.R. Krosiya, in-charge of the Chanchora excise circle, carried out a special search operation in village Khejda Kalan and the Binaganj bypass area.

Significant Seizure and Arrest Made

During the operation, two cases were registered under the relevant sections of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915. The department seized 18 liters of country-made liquor (hand-made) and 350 kilograms of jaggery mash (gud lahan) from the spot. The large quantity of seized jaggery mash was destroyed on-site after collecting samples.

The total market value of the confiscated illicit liquor and other materials has been estimated at approximately ₹56,000. As part of this significant action, one accused was arrested and has been sent to judicial custody.

Broader Inspection and Future Assurances

This administrative action involved the crucial participation of Excise Department constables including Ramhet Singh Kushwah, Dinesh Kumar Rathore, and women constables Jemma Ekka and Tina Verma. The team not only seized illicit liquor but also conducted surprise inspections of various liquor shops in the area.

Furthermore, a thorough check of nearby hotels and roadside eateries (dhabas) was conducted to prevent any potential illegal activities. Senior officials from the department have stated that similar intensive and consecutive actions will continue in the future to prevent any incidents of poisonous liquor in the district. Local residents are also being made aware of the dangers of consuming illicit liquor and are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the department immediately.

This continuous vigilance by the department is causing disruption among illicit liquor traders and is proving to be a significant step towards ensuring compliance with the law.
