Guna Observes International Sign Language Day

An awareness program was organized by the Social Justice and Disability Empowerment Department at the CWSN Hostel in NanKhedi, Guna, to commemorate International Sign Language Day. The event aimed to underscore the significance of sign language in the lives of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and foster sensitivity and inclusivity in society.

Fostering Communication and Creativity

Presided over by Deputy Director Rishu Kumar Suman, the program saw enthusiastic participation from hearing-impaired children of the CWSN hostel and students from Sonali Public and Shiksha Samiti. Various competitions were conducted to provide a platform for the children's communication skills and creativity, where they effectively conveyed their thoughts and emotions using sign language.

Building Confidence and Inclusion

Experts emphasized that sign language is more than just a means of communication; it's a powerful tool for building confidence, dignity, and equal opportunities for disabled individuals. They urged all sections of society to embrace equality and support for the disabled, ensuring their dignified integration into the mainstream.

Recognizing Talent and Promoting Awareness

The event successfully showcased the hidden talents of specially-abled children and contributed significantly to developing a new, positive perception of sign language within the community. All participants were presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation.
