Administration Cracks Down on Public Distribution System Irregularities

In a significant move to curb irregularities and black marketing within the Public Distribution System, the administration in Guna district has taken decisive action. Following clear directives from Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal, an FIR has been registered at the Aron Police Station against Dharmendra Lodhi, the vendor of the government-approved fair price shop in Banveerkhedi, Aron tehsil, under the Essential Commodities Act.

The vendor faces serious allegations of misappropriating allocated food grains and selling them in the open market. This action is based on an investigation report submitted by the Junior Supply Officer of Aron, which details the large-scale misuse of food grains allotted to the shop.

Massive Grain Shortage Revealed in Investigation

The investigation report indicates that a substantial amount of allocated food grains has been siphoned off. Specifically, 101.28 quintals of wheat, 23.96 quintals of rice, and 23 kilograms of sugar have been accounted for as missing. The estimated financial value of this misappropriated grain is reported to be ₹3,99,910, directly impacting the government assistance meant for consumers.

Vendor's Explanation Deemed Unsatisfactory, Legal Action Initiated

Given the gravity of the matter, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Aron, had issued a show-cause notice to the vendor, Dharmendra Lodhi, demanding an explanation. However, the clarification provided by the vendor was not found to be satisfactory. With the charges of grain misappropriation and black marketing substantiated during the investigation, the administration moved swiftly to initiate legal proceedings.

Consequently, an FIR was filed against the accused at the police station on September 8, 2026.

Crackdown on Ration Shops Continues Across the District

Administrative officials stated that this campaign is part of an ongoing effort to ensure transparency and strengthen the ration distribution system in the district. Previously, in August and September 2026, FIRs were also registered against the operators of three other ration shops due to serious distribution irregularities.

The administration has firmly stated that no individual found to be usurping the grains rightfully belonging to eligible beneficiaries or engaging in black marketing will be spared. Surprise inspections and investigations will continue in the future to monitor the Public Distribution System and completely eradicate malpractices.
