Traffic Management Strategy for Diwali

The Guna administration has initiated a comprehensive strategy to ensure smooth traffic flow during the upcoming Diwali festival, anticipating significant crowd build-up. A high-level meeting, presided over by District Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal, discussed measures to reduce traffic pressure at major intersections and busy routes, alongside addressing encroachments.

Key Intersections and Route Adjustments

Specific instructions were issued for traffic management at various critical locations. At Hanuman Square, flower vendors will be relocated to improve the situation. Shopkeepers at the Railway T-point will be organized with clear road markings. Temporary encroachments by shopkeepers at Jaystambh Square are to be removed immediately, and auto-parking will be streamlined.

In Bhullanpura, vendors with carts selling vegetables and other goods will be removed from both sides of the railway bridge. Plans also include installing CCTV cameras for enhanced security. To facilitate smoother traffic, four-wheelers approaching from Bajrangarh will be diverted towards the bypass to prevent jams at Jaystambh Square.

Parking and One-Way System Implementation

To restrict heavy vehicles on the railway bridge, girders will be installed. A one-way system will be implemented for traffic coming from Lahoti T-point and Sagun Square towards Sadar Bazaar. Only two-wheelers will be allowed to enter Sadar Bazaar from Sagun Square, helping to manage crowds in the main market areas.

Dedicated Parking Facilities

Considering the convenience of shoppers, dedicated parking arrangements will be made at Bapu Park from November 5 to November 11, 2026. Temporary stalls currently in the park will be removed for this purpose. The Utkrisht Vidyalaya campus will also be utilized as a parking area.

Sanitation and Official Presence

The Municipal Council has been directed to clear the garbage dump near Bohra Masjid to maintain cleanliness. The meeting was attended by District President Dharmendra Singh Sikarwar, Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Singh Suman, SDM Shivani Pandey, and Chief Municipal Officer Shailesh Awasthi, along with other administrative officials.
